Oscar Wilde said, “be yourself, everyone else has already been taken!” Sounds simple, so why do so many people find it so hard. It is true, something so simple can make such a difference. So, I read some more about this topic of authenticity and I stumbled across this great article written in 2016 by Travis Bradberry.
To live authentically you must own your own actions. This can prove difficult when external forces can test us by pushing us to do things ordinarily we would not do, or feel uncomfortable with.
Most of us, if honest about it, have experienced that feeling and discomfort from not being authentic to ourselves, and it’s clear that our brains know when we are lying or living a lie.
So, what can you do to bring simplicity and authenticity into your life?
- Help others to be authentic.
- Let negative people go from your life.
- Honesty! Express true feelings even if not popular.
- Be confident.
- Engage in deep conversation rather than meaningless chatter.
- Evaluate carefully others advice.
- Don’t complain.
- Be internally motivated.
- Make the best out of every situation.
- Don’t get stressed out of other people’s opinions.
- Bring it all together.
